Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy as a mask of acute coronary syndrome: a case series

چکیده

Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) or Yamaguchi syndrome is a relatively rare subtype of HCM characterized by left ventricular apex localization the hypertrophy. In this case, chest pain can be erroneously interpreted as manifestation coronary artery disease. This article presents two cases apical in patients admitted with diagnosis acute syndrome. Electrocardiogram revealed repolarization disorder and giant T wave inversion (up to 10 mm) precordial leads. Transthoracic echocardiography local symmetric hypertrophy apex, which made it possible diagnose HCM. The arteries both were intact. presented demonstrate variant leading clinical syndrome, often cause overdiagnosis

Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy mimicking acute coronary syndrome.

We present a case who was initially thought to have an acute coronary syndrome but who was later diagnosed to have an apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Interestingly, the diagnosis could be established with left heart catheterization, not echocardiography.

Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in a Case with Chest Pain and Family History of Sudden Cardiac Death: A Case Report

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common genetic cardiovascular disease, which is caused by a multitude of mutations in genes encoding proteins of the cardiac sarcomere (1). Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is an uncommon type of HCM. The sudden cardiac death is less likely to occur in the patients inflicted with AHCM (2). Herein, we presented the case of a 29-year-old man ...

Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report

Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (ApHCM) is a rare variant of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, characterized by a spade-like left ventricular cavity. A 58-year-old African-American female with past medical history of hypertension presented for evaluation of recurrent exertional chest tightness, palpitations and headache. Prior workup including multiple stress tests and angiogram was non-conclusiv...

Role of cardiac magnetic resonance in differentiating between acute coronary syndrome and apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

A 72-year-old female patient with a history of hypertension was admitted to the hospital with suspicion of non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome. On ECG, left ventricle hypertrophy and negative T waves in V2–V6 were present. Levels of cardiac enzymes were markedly increased with troponin (Tn) I at admission 2.06 μg/l and with a subsequent drop to values of 0.99 μg/l and 0.71 μg/l. Re...

DIFFUSE CORONARY ARTERIAL ECTASIA WITH HYPERTROPHIC CARDIOMYOPATHY

A 40 year old male, a known case of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, was admitted for catheterization. At catheterization and angiography, septum was hypertrophied to about 5cm and diffuse coronary artery aneurysm was revealed. We found no previous report of coronary artery aneurysm in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
